Avenue Bank will host “Shred-it Day” to offer Nashvillians a free service to reduce the risk of identity theft by safely disposing of old documents that contain private personal information.

Avenue Bank has partnered with Shred-it, a leading on site document destruction company, to be available to the public on Saturday, June 5, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at the Green Hills bank branch, 3823 Cleghorn Avenue. Everyone who participates can enter to win $100.00 gift card from the Green Hills Mall.

“Part of our mission at Avenue Bank is about building relationships with our customers,” said Ron Samuels, President and CEO of Avenue Bank. “This means providing services that let our customers know we care about them, our community and our environment. Shred-it Day is a free service to all in our Nashville community – it’s free and environmentally safe.”

Individuals may bring up to five boxes of materials to be shredded. You do NOT have to remove staples, paper clips, etc. Shred-it uses a cross-cut process to shred the paper materials into tiny confetti pieces (approximately 5/8” in size). This process takes place inside a secured, caged environment within the Shred-it truck. The material is then sent to be recycled, where it returns to the marketplace in the form of items such as recycled household paper products.

Avenue Bank’s “Shred-it Day” is part of The Green Hills Action Partners (TGHAP) annual “Celebrate Green Hills” days, which include a number of events from participating businesses and retail outlets. Created in 1999 to support positive development, TGHAP helps citizens stay informed and involved in their community.
