“Eliminating allergens from the indoor environment can eliminate or reduce the severity of symptoms and, in many cases, reduce a patient’s need for prescription medications,” says Dr. James Sublett, Allergy Section Chair at the University of Louisville.

Americans will stay home from work or school more than 4 million days in this year to battle allergy symptoms even though their home may be the source of most of their misery.
“Indoor air contains anywhere from five to 100 times more allergens than outdoor air,” says Dr. James Sublett, Allergy Section Chair at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and a founding partner of one of the nation’s largest allergy practices.
“Eliminating allergens from the indoor environment can eliminate or reduce the severity of symptoms and, in many cases, reduce a patient’s need for prescription medications.”
Wet winter and spring weather in many parts of the country are making 2010 one of the worst allergy years in memory, with greater than average pollen counts and high levels of relative humidity that are ideal for dust mite growth.
Central vacuum and air filtration systems address those problems by minimizing particulates, dust, dust mites, pet dander, pollen and other allergens from interior surfaces and indoor air.
With a motor three- to five times more powerful than a conventional vacuum, a BEAM Central Vacuum System removes 100 percent of contacted dust and allergens from the living area, without blowing dust-laden air back into the room being cleaned.
The allergy benefits of a central vacuum were proven in a clinical study by the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine. Patients recorded a 46 percent to 61 percent improvement in their symptoms when they used a Beam Central Vacuum System instead of a conventional vacuum to clean their homes.
Now a way exists to also clean airborne allergens and other suspended particulate right from the air you breathe in your home, by installing a whole house HEPA Bypass Air Filtration System, such as the one made for BEAM. This system converts your existing forced air HVAC system into a HEPA-pure (99.97% efficient at 0.3 microns) bypass filtration system which filters all of the air in the home – in every room. The systems are so effective that St. Louis Children’s Hospital used them to purify the air inside temporary emergency room tents that were set up last fall to treat an overflow of H1N1 and other flu patients.
BEAM Central Vacuum Systems are manufactured by Electrolux Central Vacuum Systems, the world’s leading producer and marketer of central vacuums. BEAM Central Vacuum and HEPA Air Filtration Systems are sold and installed by a network of nearly 800 independent U.S. dealers. For more information visit beam.com.
