Rubicon Global Group, Inc., a Portland, Oregon-based investment banking firm, today announced the launch of Rubicon Fourth Wave Media Group, a multi-platform publishing company.

According to Mohammad Saeed Rahman, the Chairman and CEO of Rubicon Global, “Rubicon Fourth Wave Media is a multimedia publishing company that uses print, electronic publishing, blogging, online articles and white papers, gathered from a variety of authors, to advance a dialogue that will address the customer experience in the digital age while promoting ethical and humane values in the global marketplace.”

The Chairman of Rubicon Fourth Wave Media is Martin Grossman, a former Silicon Valley marketing and public relations executive and consultant now living in Portland. An early participant in the growth of the Internet and the World Wide Web, he has been deeply involved in the migration of publishing from and almost exclusively print medium to a considerable presence online. “The way forward in publishing is now upon us,” said Grossman. “With the arrival of the Kindle, the Nook, and now the iPad, publishing is entering a new era.”

The “Fourth Wave” in the new firm’s name refers to latest stage in the evolution of technological modes and economic models from old forms to new. If the first wave is defined as the introduction of agriculture and bartering, and the second wave is identified as the Industrial Revolution, which brought mass production to the world, and the if the third wave is seen as the advent of Information Age that has seen the coming of the Internet, then the Fourth Wave is likely to see ethical values fully integrated with opportunities for creating wealth.

The human enterprise depends on expanding awareness and practicing renewal and sustainability. Our assets are ideas, information, creativity, and vision. The Fourth Wave Media Group hopes to play a role in communicating the best new ideas for “doing well by doing good” to a worldwide audience.

As Clive Simpkins points out in a recent issue of New Renaissance magazine, an online publication,”Corporations around the world already know that potential or actual shareholders want a healthy triple bottom line. Good fiscal performance, a corporate social investment program that works and environmental sensitivity. Enter then, the ‘Fourth Wave’—of Spiritual Intelligence. Stakeholders will want to know that the organization functions morally and ethically. That it has a conscience. That it is founded on a set of strong, non-negotiable values. That they function, as David Ogilvy said, like, ‘gentlemen (or women!) with brains.’”

As part of its launch, Rubicon Fourth Wave Media has gone live with a new website, http://www.rubiconfourthwavemedia.org. All of its publications—print or electronic—will be available there, as well as occasional essays, weekly blog posts, and listings of current activities and events, including seminars, symposia, talks, and video presentations. Fourth Wave news from a variety of sources will also be posted. “We hope to become an active participant in the ongoing evolution of Fourth Wave thinking,” said Grossman. “It’s an exciting time to be involved in the communications industry. Everything is in play. As the print media becomes only part of the mix, the new media channels will begin to establish new ethical standards. The Fourth Wave Media Group will be part of the conversation.”

“We want to encourage the ethical pursuit of business profits,” added Rahman. “It fits perfectly with the overall goal of all Rubicon ventures. We have become a suite of companies that we hope will play an important role in helping the Fourth Wave gain strength in the era of momentous change we are now in.”
