In 2009, Avonline announced their unique broadband over IRS product called IRSnet. This enables the delivery of secure broadband services to every occupant of a multiple dwelling unit using the existing digital coaxial cable distribution system. This new technology is primarily aimed at providing a safe and reliable broadband service into properties which currently have one of the lowest broadband penetration segments in the market. IRSnet fills a major gap in the current market and provides significant opportunities for councils to interact more efficiently with their tenants. The product also supports the Government’s Digital Inclusion philosophy championed by Martha Lane Fox through the Race Online 2012 initiative which aims to get everyone connected to broadband by 2012.
