Rasul Bayram brings a tale of love and war in Against the Tide. The book follows the story of two young individuals who fell in love and, despite their many cultural differences, fought to keep their relationship and their love alive.
Against the Tide takes readers to the very unique circumstances of the couple’s first meeting – beneath the rubble of a building in a town in China. Daoud, a Lebanese national pursuing his studies in France, volunteered together with his friends to help in the search and rescue efforts after a massive earthquake hit China. While there, he found himself trapped beneath the rubble after a tremor hit, effectively injuring him and trapping him. While trapped, he met a young woman named Susan, also a volunteer from the New York University. The two kept each other company while waiting for rescue. Daoud awoke from his coma several weeks after the incident, unable to find Susan. These seemingly random incidents started a love story that would span several miles in distance and the cultures of two very different nations.
Bayram brings readers a woven tapestry of romance, history, politics and drama – a story that will do more than just entertain; it will also educate readers of the turmoil that ravages many of the world’s Islamic nations.
The book also explores the intricacies of world history, touching on such topics as the war in Lebanon, the struggles of Islamic men and women, and several influential figures such as Ronald Reagan, Yasser Arafat, and Ruhollah Khomeini. For more information on this book, log on to Xlibris.com.
