The Magazine's Recognition For Top Golf Courses Honors Tidewater With World-Renowned S.C. Courses Including Kiawah Island And Sea Pines

Golfweek has named Tidewater Golf Club in North Myrtle Beach one of the 2010 “Best Courses You Can Play” in South Carolina. The course, which ranked sixth, is known for its marvelous TifEagle grass greens, perfectly-manicured fairways, exceptional practice facility and world-class design.

Tidewater, which is managed by Burroughs & Chapin Company, Inc., spans the Little River Neck peninsula from the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway to the tidal salt water marshes of Cherry Grove and the Atlantic Ocean.

“With all the top-notch courses across the state, it's a tremendous honor for Tidewater to be named one of the top 10 'best courses you can play,'” said Bob Swezey, executive vice president of resort operations at Burroughs & Chapin, Company, Inc. “Our team and owner are excited to be recognized along with golf resorts like the world-renowned Kiawah Island Golf Resort and The Sea Pines Resort.”

Tidewater, which opened in 1990, challenges even the best players without ever punishing a well-hit shot, while also providing an experience that can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels.

The course also recently made Golf Magazine's "Top 100 You Can Play” listing. To this day, it remains the only layout that has ever been named "Best New Course" by both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine.

In 2009, Tidewater underwent five weeks of renovations to improve its tees and greens, as well as enhance its view of the Atlantic Ocean. The project concentrated on enlarging, leveling and re-sodding all tee boxes; adding new sets of tees to enhance the playability and strategies of the design; pruning trees on the course; installing Erosion Barrier Tubing on the 10th hole for erosion control and beautification; and installing added drainage in select fairways and greens to enhance turf health.

Tidewater Golf Club will be the site of the Tidewater Charity Golf Tournament over Labor Day weekend this year.
