New Mortgage Rate Forecast at HSH.com

In a period of economic volatility, mortgage resource site HSH.com released guidance for U.S. mortgage rate trends in the next two months.

Just when the economic recovery in the U.S. seemed to be gaining traction, along came the Euro-zone debt crisis, providing a number of new challenges to recovery.

HSH.com released today its latest Two-Month Forecast for mortgage rates. Homeowners and potential home buyers should take note.

Despite the end of special supports for them, mortgage rates are still low. A weak economy and global credit market issues are serving to keep mortgage rates down, but how long can they remain near record lows?

"It's an uncertain time for credit markets," noted Keith Gumbinger, HSH.com's vice president. "Just when the economic recovery in the U.S. seemed to be gaining traction, along came the Euro-zone debt crisis, providing a number of new challenges to recovery."

Investors moving from riskier assets into safer ones work to the benefit of home buyers and refinancers, who have again seen rates fall to near-record-low levels.

The latest Two-Month Forecast can be found at HSH.com. The mortgage rate forecast is accompanied by both a recap of the previous period and a discussion about the influences on mortgage rates in the coming months.

Two-Month Forecasts have been issued by HSH for almost 10 years, and previous editions dating back to 2004 can also be found at the site.

"Almost every forecast period brings new twists and turns," said Gumbinger, "but our track record of accuracy has been pretty fair over the years."
