Avonline, who supported the project by installing TV points in every room and a PC for the common room, also provided free broadband to all the rooms, including the original 16 rooms, using their brand new broadband over IRS product, IRSNet.
Ronald McDonald House Bristol offers families a place to stay while their children are being treated at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and St Michaels Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The original house opened in November 2002 with 16 bedrooms. It has been described as a “home from home by hundreds of families, some of which have stayed for years during this critical time in their live.” Denise Johnson-Carr, Charity Manager explains “once the bungalow has been officially opened the Ronald McDonald House Bristol will have a total of 21 rooms, ensuring support and comfort to many more families during this stressful and upsetting time”.
Avonline's Director of Installations, Rich Hale, said ‘We are very proud to support such a great local cause. Having visited the House a number of times I can see the positive benefits that having this facility makes to families who are already having to deal with the illness of a child. The team at Avonline were delighted to help in providing services to the House, especially our broadband IRSNet system, which will help them keep in contact with their friends and family whilst they are away’
Avonline plc is the UK's leading Digital Switchover specialist. Established in 1981, it has its headquarters in Bristol. The company holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 accreditations through BSI. Avonline plc is the national leader in Integrated Receptions Systems design, installation and maintenance providing digital television, radio and broadband services for multiple dwelling units.
Avonline launched IRSNet last year, a system aimed specifically at bringing reliable, secure and cheap broadband to every property connected to an integrated reception system. IRSnet is simple to install, using the existing digital coaxial cable distribution system. This new technology is primarily aimed at providing a safe and reliable broadband service into council & social housing properties which is one of the lowest broadband penetration segments in the market today. In doing so, IRSnet fills a major gap in the current market, provides significant opportunities for councils to interact more efficiently with their tenants and supports the Government’s Digital Inclusion philosophy and the Race Online 2012 initiative of which they are a partner.
