K'NEX, America’s building toy company, congratulates Jamie McMurray and the No. 88 JR Motorsports team on its third place finish in May 15th's NASCAR Nationwide Series Heluva Good! 200 at Dover International Speedway.
McMurray’s third place finish came behind the wheel of the No. 88 K’NEX JR Motorsports Chevrolet. K’NEX recently unveiled a new line of NASCAR licensed building toys including Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s No. 88 National Guard car and Jeff Gordon’s No. 24 Pepsi car.
To promote the new line of products, K’NEX joined forces with Earnhardt’s JR Motorsports to sponsor the No. 88 Chevrolet, piloted by Daytona 500 winner Jamie McMurray. In addition to being the primary sponsor of the No. 88 Chevy in the NASCAR Nationwide series race, K’NEX donated $100,000 of toys to The Dale Jr. Foundation and the NASCAR Foundation, some of which will be distributed to the Jamie McMurray Foundation and is donating 10% of knex.com sales to The Dale Jr. Foundation for the month of May.
“Our NASCAR race weekend promotion was a great success,” said Michael Araten, president of K’NEX, “Meeting the fans and NASCAR drivers has given all of us a new level of appreciation for the sport and Jamie McMurray’s come from behind third place finish was icing on the cake.”
K’NEX also hosted a tent in the Fan Zone so that young race fans could build with K’NEX pieces and explore the new NASCAR sets. Prior to the race K’NEX hosted an online contest that awarded 100 lucky winners with two tickets each to the Heluva Good! 200. In celebration of McMurray’s third place finish, K’NEX will offer special savings on its website, http://www.knex.com for the week following the race.
K’NEX and NASCAR announced a licensing partnership in June 2009 with the first products debuting at the end of that year. K’NEX NASCAR building sets offer the most popular NASCAR drivers and enough cars, parts, and accessories to create an entire NASCAR world.
