NetRead Software and Services, LLC, announces an agreement to handle all of Macmillan USA's print and ebook title information through its product, JacketCaster. Management and delivery of this information is essential to increasing book sales, reducing costs through a more efficient workforce and fewer point-of-sale errors, and increasing visibility through quicker data delivery.

“In today’s environment ensuring our product’s marketing data is provided quickly and properly to all distribution channels is critical. We are looking forward to working with the NetRead team to make this happen,” said Chris Kohn, CIO of Macmillan USA.

NetRead Software and Services, LLC, a solutions-provider to the book industry, announced a metadata partnership today with Macmillan USA, a leading publisher of books, textbooks, magazines and digital media. Under terms of the agreement, NetRead will handle their title data conversion and distribution through its product, JacketCaster. JacketCaster is architected around the book industry XML-standard called ONIX, and this foundation will allow for quick and efficient delivery of Macmillan’s eBook and Print title information to its myriad of trading partners.

“We’re pleased to be working with a publisher of Macmillan’s history and experience. They understand the importance of book marketing through information technology, and we’re proud to be placed in the center of their process,” said Greg Aden, CEO of NetRead Software and Services, LLC.

NetRead has been an integral part of the publishing process since 2000 when they launched their ONIX-conversion application, JacketCaster, at Book Expo America. The internationally-recognized ONIX standard allows publishers to quickly list titles and effect changes with booksellers and industry players such as Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Ingram, Baker & Taylor, and Bowker. The standard is represented in the United States by the Book Industry Study Group (BISG), of which NetRead and Macmillan are members.

“In today’s environment ensuring our product’s marketing data is provided quickly and properly to all distribution channels is critical. We are looking forward to working with the NetRead team to make this happen,” said Chris Kohn, CIO of Macmillan USA.

Macmillan’s ONIX files are certified by the Book Industry Study Group. NetRead has supported BISG’s process for its clients since inception of the certification. NetRead is also gold-certified for ONIX production by BookNet Canada.
