Cedar Rapids, IA (PRWEB) May 26, 2010
MobileDemand, a leading Rugged Tablet PC provider, today announced its sponsorship with the Red Bull Racing Team, which competes in the NASCAR(R) Sprint Cup Series. MobileDemand has provided the team with 10 of its new rugged xTablet T7000 ultra mobile computers.
The devices will be predominately used by the spotter, tire specialist and the gasman to record and compute data. Integrated bar code scanners will assist the tire specialist in organizing the race tires throughout the weekend. Timing and scoring will provide the spotter with information to assist the driver throughout practices and the race. The Tablet PC will also allow the gasman to provide fuel data to the race engineer in a faster fashion.
NASCAR is a high-tech sport where thousandths of a second separate the winner from the rest of the field. The crews are counting on the MobileDemand Tablet PCs to give them the edge they need to get to the finish line first.
“Tire specialists will scan the tires and collect wear, temperature and pressure data which will disseminate the information back to the engineers in real time,” says Jimmy Elledge, crew chief for the No. 82 Red Bull Toyota. “The spotters will use them up on the spotter stand for real-time timing and scoring and to view on-track activity. The Tablet PCs are unique and the race teams are always looking for the latest technology to give them a competitive edge.”
No. 83 crew chief Ryan Pemberton adds, “This will allow us to stay in contact and communicate information quicker which will enable us to make better decisions about our cars and race strategy. In addition, I think the durability of the tablets is great for our long season.”
The MobileDemand xTablet T7000 rugged Ultra Mobile PC is ideal for harsh environments like the NASCAR race track. It small and light enough to carry all day, yet military-rugged to withstand rain, dust, shocks and multiple drops to concrete. It has a full XSVGA 7-inch all-light readable touch display for easy viewing even in sunlight. The xTablet T7000 also runs on and Intel Atom processor and full Windows 7 OS so it can run specialized applications as well as standard Microsoft applications.
The MobileDemand xTablet also has a bar code and RFID reader, a built-in numeric keypad and optional QWERTY keyboard, a color camera and a wireless radio to collect and communicate essential information to accelerate decisions on the track. Accessories including hand straps, carrying cases and two and four point shoulder straps are also available for even greater flexibility.
“We are very excited to sponsor the Red Bull Racing team and showcase how our rugged xTablets can perform in the rough NASCAR environment,” says MobileDemand President Matt Miller. “These rugged mini tablet PCs will provide the team with real-time data to make quicker and more precise decisions and get the cars back on the track faster.
