Leading rustic décor retailer now has over 900 fans, far more than their goal of 500

Black Forest Décor, a mail order and Internet business specializing in home décor, lighting products and cabin furniture for homes, cottages, cabins and lodges, has had great success with their presence on Facebook. Their original goal was to have 500 active fans, and they now have 903.

"When we created our company page in May, 2009, we had no idea that it would become so popular," said Jason Dupus, CEO of Black Forest Décor. "We set up a far-reaching goal of gaining 500 fans in the first year, and now we're at almost 1,000 - with a number of them interacting with us on a regular basis. It's exciting to see what a positive impact social media has had on our brand."

In the year since Black Forest Décor originally built their company page on Facebook, they have not only grown in fan base, but they have had great success in interacting with and engaging those individuals. The company uses Facebook as a platform to announce the addition of new products and services, and to answer questions from customers immediately and directly. Customers are also free to post feedback about items they have purchased and make recommendations to others.

"There are folks from all over getting involved in the conversation," added Dupus. "We've come to realize that Facebook is the perfect place to go beyond business and show our personal side. We regularly share photos and chat with our fans, and this has had a significant impact on our sales and customer satisfaction."

Black Forest Décor continues to find new ways to maximize their Facebook presence. They offer coupons and announce special promotions, and they link readers to their blog posts, catalog pages and "tweets" on Twitter.
