Media professional Doug McConnell, 65, hosted the popular TV show "Bay Area Backroads" for 16 years. A passionate environmentalist, he's now host of a new show "Open Road with Doug McConnell Exploring the West" which appears on PBS KQED.

His secrets to staying healthy? "Stay active and engaged in life as long as you can," said McConnell. "I like to hike, bike and ride horses. Keep moving."
