Start-up VerbaLearn.com rapidly approaches 1 million words learned and announces a new contest to promote e-learning. The contest will reward the user who learns the 1 millionth word on VerbaLearn.com with a new iPad 3G or iPod Nano.

Start-up VerbaLearn.com (http://www.verbalearn.com) approaches 1 million words learned and announces an iPod/iPad giveaway to promote e-learning. The unique vocabulary-building website, VerbaLearn.com, uses an adaptive curriculum to determine when users have learned a new word and when they need additional practice; making the system more effective than traditional study methods. Users can study various levels of customized vocabulary (SAT, GRE, ESL, 7th - 12th grade) by playing games, listening to MP3s, watching videos, reviewing flashcards and more. Currently, users have learned over 850,000 words and the website is rapidly approaching 1 million words. To celebrate reaching its 1 millionth word learned, VerbaLearn.com has launched a contest to thank all of its devoted users and motivate new users to build their vocabularies.

The contest will reward the user who learns the 1 millionth word on VerbaLearn.com with a new iPad 3G or iPod Nano. In order to win the iPad, the winning user must be a paying member. VerbaLearn.com’s paid-for service – the VerbaLearn Plus program, is a $40 one-time fee and includes a number of extra review features which are not included in the website’s free version. A non-paying winner will receive an iPod Nano. All members are automatically eligible and participating in the contest is as easy as creating an account and learning words.

VerbaLearn.com co-founder James Potter also acknowledged that premium members are more likely to win than non-premium members. “…because of the extra review features associated with VerbaLearn Plus, these users learn two times more words on average in the same amount of time than free users and have a higher chance of hitting the 1 millionth word jackpot,” Potter said.

Weekly updates will be posted on Verbalearn.com’s facebook page and each week a new user will be chosen at random to receive an iTunes gift card just for learning words. The iPod Nano or iPad 3G will be shipped to the winning member immediately following the announcement.
