LearnKey is proud to announce this year’s scholarship winners from Ore City High school and Roberto Clemente Community Academy. LearnKey awarded the students with $1,000 college scholarships. Over the last four years LearnKey has awarded over $10,000 to students pursuing technology fields.

The winners of the scholarship are Tori Glass of Ore City High School in Ore City, TX and Ontonio Colon of Roberto Clemente Community Academy in Chicago, IL. Miss Glass was certified in Photoshop CSA and A+ Certification 2009 was the path Mr. Colon was certified in. These certifications validate student’s knowledge and understanding of technology giving them a competitive edge in the IT or design industry.

To qualify the school’s had to complete an application and have a minimum of 10 eligible students to participate. A teacher or administrator had to nominate their school to be considered for the scholarship program. Selection of the schools was based on the social and economic needs and problem statements provided in the applications for the program. Schools had to have a teacher willing to help the students turn in assignments and stay on track with the certification paths.

Students were required to get certified in one of the following certification paths; Certiport, Microsoft Office, CompTIA, or Adobe CS4 using LearnKey’s industry based training programs. The online training was provided for students free of charge, participants completed the training program and test prep. Once the students passed the test with 80% or more LearnKey provided free industry certification vouchers. The final requirement was a video essay explaining the benefits of the training and how the certification will help the students in the future. The honorees will be recognized this month during their schools awards ceremonies.
