Iron County, Michigan, is home to the Connor Floor plant, and the company wants to give homes to others. Will take part in building a house and installing flooring in the community of Iron River on Saturday, June 5

The Connor Sports Flooring manufacturing plant here finds itself in a new role as employees sign up to help build a house under the Habitat for Humanity program.

Amasa plant employees, who recently constructed playing floors for the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Final Four™ championship basketball tournament, will now apply their talents to installing flooring in a Habitat for Humanity house being built on Cayuga Street in the community of Iron River. The Connor team will work from 8 a.m. to 5 p. m. on Saturday, June 5.

With labor coming from its employees, maple hardwood flooring for the Habitat for Humanity house is being provided at no cost by Connor Sports Flooring.

Norma Prevo, Connor’s Human Resources coordinator in the Amasa manufacturing facility, said Jason Gasperich, a Connor Portable Floors employee, brought this project to the company.

“It was such a great idea and something the company had never participated in before. Since Connor has long been a strong proponent of corporate responsibility in the community it serves, this was an appropriate effort,” said Conrad Stromberg, Manager of the Amasa operation, who has encouraged employees to pitch-in.

So far 14 Connor employees have completed the volunteer forms “with many more who just want to help,” said Prevo.

“I’m really proud of our people in Amasa,” said Ron Cerny, President and CEO Connor’s parent company, Connor Sport Court International, headquartered in Salt Lake City. “They’re working together to give something back to the community.”

The world needs more of this can-do attitude,” said Jon Isaacs, Vice President and General Manager Connor Sports Flooring, with offices in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
