[I] was just able to do a quick mock up of what I want the garage to look like when I have everything in place. [I] plugged in the actual dimensions of the car and the Envoy, same with both workbenches I want and my tool chest and both tool carts. Neat!

Designing the floor plan of a new office, garage building, deck or barn just got much easier thanks to CB Structures new online Building Layout Planner. Designed by Icovia, the free program allows users to outline the various dimensions of a building while inserting and rearranging a variety of products to ensure the building can accommodate all the items needed in the space.
While the Layout Planner was originally designed to let customers communicate their needs to CB Structures sales representatives, the company addressed the need for the online community to utilize such a tool when it comes to designing. The company allows site visitors to access the planner by simply visiting their website.
At the start of designing, users can choose from items such as vehicles, farm equipment and office supplies, then customize dimensions to reflect their own possessions. CB Structures also recognized that users may want to utilize the layout planner for furniture rearrangements, home staging and a variety of other applications as well. These items can also be linked to photographs or web sites. Users even have the ability to insert wiring and lighting icons to designate phone jacks, power outlets and security cameras as well as additional features. Once finalized, the designs can be saved to the CB Structures web site, emailed to friends or printed for reference.
CB Structures Layout Planner has been receiving favorable reviews since its release. Garage Journal called the Layout Planner “great for the dreamer or the builder." Garage Journal also noted that “now, I know there are a ton of these little applications out there, but this one is just so simple. You really don’t have to invest any time to figure out the functionality.”
Users of the Garage Journal community forum had similar praise. “That is pretty awesome,” wrote one member. “[I] was just able to do a quick mock up of what I want the garage to look like when I have everything in place. [I] plugged in the actual dimensions of the car and the Envoy, same with both workbenches I want and my tool chest and both tool carts. Neat!”
Another member even mentioned, “My wife made fun of me for playing with this, until I mentioned she could lay out the living room of the house we are buying and now she is on her computer making a layout of the living room with our stuff in it.”
