Students from Northwest Renewable Energy Institute (NW-REI) recently returned from Dallas, Texas where they attended Windpower 2010, the world’s largest energy event.
Participants and attendees included a broad range of industry leaders from all over the world. Students were immersed in the conference with over 1,500 companies represented on-site including Suzlon, a leading wind power company which recently hired several NW-REI graduates. In less than 15 years, Suzlon, conceived in 1995, has grown from just 20 employees to over 14,000 employees in 21 countries. NW-REI School Director, Tracy Rascoe, who serves as part of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) Educational Workgroup, participated in the conference, teaching one seminar and co-anchoring the question and answer period at the end of the conference.
Additional NW-REI staff members in attendance were: Lisa Schmidt (Director of Career Development), Stephen Koyen (Director of Admissions), David Hastings (Instructor) and Kathy Johnson (Career Development Instructor).
