The Tarpey Group, an independent insurance agency, with offices in Fairfield, NJ, recently offered a $2500 scholarship to Keith Fitzgerald of Jefferson as part of a Special Education Week observance. Suze Risteski, Vice President of Client Services for The Tarpey Group, presented the award to Fitzgerald at Chapel Hill Academy in Lincoln Park, where Fitzgerald is a senior in high school.
This is the first year 5th year that the Tarpey Group provided the ASAH scholarship. The goal of the Connections for Success scholarship is to provide financial support and recognition of students with disabilities graduating from an ASAH member school as they encourage continuing education and training, increased independence and goal setting, and promote community integration and the use of local resources and supports.
Tom Celli, CEO of Chapel Hill Academy, said, "Chapel Hill Academy goals are to provide students with the necessary tools and opportunities to progress academically, mature emotionally, and develop socially to become productive participants at home, in school, and in the community." The school is a state-approved private school for the disabled and fully accredited by the Middle States Association.
The Tarpey Group is an independent insurance agency providing personal and business insurance policies. It specializes in working with not-for-profit private schools, colleges, and universities.
Brian Tarpey, president of the Tarpey Group, said, "We are pleased to be able to offer this scholarship to Keith. He's a young man who has shown he is committed to academic excellence and to personal achievement in other areas as well. We wish him the best."
