microDATA Successfully Tests Legacy to IP Transition Elements & Interoperability of Products Built to i3 Standards at ICE 2

This week, at the second annual Industry Collaboration Event (ICE 2), microDATA successfully tested their i3-based, hosted CPE and selective routing software for effective transitional elements and interoperability with both legacy interfaces and NG9-1-1 components in bilateral and multi-vendor scenarios at the AT&T Center for Learning in Irving, Texas. microDATA also provided the ALI Database functionality for the event.

This event was very timely as it was an opportunity to test the wide range of microDATA products that meet current industry needs in this regard. Although it was a LOT of work while there, our results were very successful.

Next Generation 9-1-1 just got a little bit closer for everyone. This week, at the second annual Industry Collaboration Event (ICE 2), microDATA successfully tested their i3-based, hosted CPE and selective routing software for effective transitional elements and interoperability with both legacy interfaces and NG9-1-1 components in bilateral and multi-vendor scenarios at the AT&T Center for Learning in Irving, Texas. microDATA also provided the ALI Database functionality for the event.

During ICE 2, held the week of May 24 – 28, 2010, vendors tested products with transitional capabilities that facilitate migration from the current analog 9-1-1 system to one able to deliver and process IP calls and pertinent packet information associated with 9-1-1 calls.

Nate Wilcox, microDATA’s CTO and Chair of the National ICE Steering Committee commented that “this event was very timely as it was an opportunity to test the wide range of microDATA products that meet current industry needs in this regard. Although it was a LOT of work while there, our results were very successful.”

microDATA brought their full suite of 9-1-1 selective routing software solutions, including xSR™, xSwitch™, xLoST™, xGP™ and their hosted CPE, xT911™, for transition element interoperability testing with the other participating vendors. The ALI database used for the event, xALI DBMS™, was provided by microDATA, and was chosen for both its format versatility and ability to interface with the Selective Router, Switch and ALI Controllers, as well as landline, wireless, and VoIP databases that serve the 9-1-1 system. xALI Local™ is responsible for all parsing and ALI data base interconnections utilized for the event.

At ICE 1, held in November 2009, microDATA successfully tested delivery of NG9-1-1 calls with xT911™,xSwitch™,xSR™, and xLoST™ -- elements that locate, route, and answer IP calls -- with other vendors. microDATA’s ongoing development of 9-1-1 call handling and ESInet solutions built on NENA i3 and IETF open standards illustrates a firm commitment to ensuring that their 9-1-1 industry products are engineered for dependability, versatility, and interoperability among multiple vendor systems.

When transitioning to a true end-to-end NG9-1-1 system, microDATA offers a solution that can be configured to work with legacy analog elements that are in queue for replacement, as well as providing a full end-to end IP based solution that will handle native IP emergency calls using a LoST server, will query the available LIS database, and then deliver multimedia data to the PSAP – not just voice.

According to Matt Clark, microDATA’s Director of Programming, “The event has helped to set the pace and cooperation to make NG911 a success.”
