Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) June 2, 2010
StartupShoppe (http://www.startupshoppe.com), a proven resource for helping new businesses in Minnesota get started, today announced the official launch of an innovative online video application to be used by founders of local new businesses “pitching” their companies.
“I looked around and saw there wasn’t really a central online service in Minnesota where our state’s promising startups could use video of their pitch for investors and others in our community to see,” said J.C. Gureghian, StartupShoppe’s founder and CEO. “So, I decided to do something about it – by creating the ‘Minnesota Startup Showcase’ myself.” Minnesota businesses looking for innovative ways to present their concept to investors while saving on travel costs will immediately see the value of Startup Showcase. One of the first companies to utilize Startup Showcase was PrepAthlete.com. "With the many current fundraising challenges facing early-stage companies, I found that incorporating video into our presentation effectively breathed life into our story and made us stand out. Startupshoppe provided an effective tool for attracting potential investors to help Prepathlete.com get to the next level," said Charlie Kruse, owner, PrepAthlete.com.
While the technical aspects have been built into the app, the process of creating the message is creative and collaborative. To begin, StartupShoppe records a 5-7 minute video of the CEO or founders presenting their opportunity. The presentation is digitally recorded and then synchronized with the company’s PowerPoint slides. What viewers will see at the Minnesota Startup Showcase site at http://www.startupshoppe.com/MNstartupshowcase, is a unique, new presentation format that is available in Minnesota for the first time. The final product features a single, wide screen application with video of the startup founder presenting on the left, and his or her corresponding slides perfectly synchronized on the right.
This unique format allows the viewer to easily navigate through the presentation, providing a powerful marketing tool for startups to offer busy and hard to reach potential investors. “It’s much easier than a traditional video player,” said Gureghian. “With the slides synched to the video, you can jump back and forth between slides – and still get the commentary or color provided on the video where the founder is explaining the points on each particular slide.”
The Minnesota Startup Showcase pitch if the startup prefers, and social media features allow the startup – or anyone viewing the presentation – to promote it to colleagues or partners on the web, via Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other social sites. The startup can also choose to embed its presentation via a personal URL to further promote its message. In addition, the video format allows viewers to subscribe to each updated presentation via RSS, so they can be sure to always have the latest version of that company's pitch. “It's a great way to communicate your message to the investment community, the media, and potential partners or employees throughout our local community – and beyond,” said Gureghian.
Startup companies based in Minnesota can apply to have their pitches featured on the Minnesota Startup Showcase web site by simply visiting http://www.startupshoppe.com and clicking “Contact Us,”
