Stoltenberg Consulting, Inc., a leading healthcare industry information technology consulting firm, today announced that it has been enlisted by Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana to assist with its long-term strategic plan.

When Good Samaritan decided on a new strategic plan, the hospital's administration realized that they wanted an expert in technology implementation and workflow to assist in the development process. Stoltenberg Consulting provides hospitals such as Good Samaritan with strategic, comprehensive and tailor-made guidance along with on-site support to maximize their systems. In addition, the company provides a variety of services including project management, implementation support and integration between systems.

“We knew Stoltenberg's reputation in the healthcare industry and wanted them to work with us to make sure we were on the right track and weren't overlooking any opportunities in the technology aspect of our new strategic plan,” explained Chuck Christian, CIO and Director of I.S. for Good Samaritan Hospital. “We especially needed to ensure that we set aside enough funds for the new plan to be successful.”

As part of this process, Stoltenberg interviewed I.T. staff from throughout the hospital, met with key department directors and spoke with various nursing staff members, focusing mainly on the hospital's clinical applications and programs. The consultants used the staff feedback to highlight deficiencies and identify opportunities in the hospital's technology-related workflow, then compared its programs and applications to hospitals with similar characteristics and demographics. In addition, Stoltenberg offered suggestions on applications to replace those that were expiring.

“Through our research, we were able to provide the necessary cost and resource estimates for Good Samaritan to achieve the goals laid out in its strategic plan,” remarked Kerry Kerlin, Executive Vice President of Stoltenberg Consulting. “We especially wanted to make sure that what we helped the hospital accomplish met the appropriate 'Meaningful Use' guidelines.”
