Kastan Mining announced today that Hashimu B. Semboja has joined the Company as the Managing Director for Processing and Metallurgical Operations. Mr. Semboja will have responsibility for designing, implementing, and managing the Company’s ore processing, refining and smelting operations in Tanzania. His initial efforts will be focused on ensuring safe and efficient processing for the Company’s gold mining project in Singida and its copper and gold project in Kilosa. Mr. Semboja has broad experience in base and precious metals production and processing having worked for six years as a production engineer in the steel industry and for two years in various liquid and waste management activities related to aluminum, silver, bauxite, and copper.
For the past six years he has been a lecturer and supervisor of forth year student projects at the University of Dar es Salaam’s Chemical and Mining Engineering Department, and has worked as a private consultant for metallic minerals and metals processing projects in Tanzania. He has practical experience in gold processing (Tanzania and South Africa) and copper processing (Selebi Phikwe, Botswana). He obtained a Master of Science Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Duisburg, Germany and received additional training in South Africa and Germany related to gold, copper, pig iron, steel and stainless steel production and processing.
Kastan’s CEO, John Tate, noted, “The Kastan strategy has always been to keep the mineral processing value chain in Tanzania.
