LiveEdge™ was featured by Intel this week at 2010 COMPUTEX TAIPEI.

LiveEdge (http://www.liveedge.tv) is a wireless news-gathering solution that attaches to video cameras and enables transmission of live video for broadcast, cable or web resulting in faster and more effi¬cient coverage without a microwave or satellite truck.

Intel Executive Vice President David (Dadi) Perlmutter - in his keynote speech – highlighted products using Intel’s Atom processor. LiveEdge 2.0 was included in Intel’s “Atom Everywhere” display and was the only product of its type.

Nomad Innovations has been working with the Intel Mobile Platforms Group in developing, integrating and streamlining the LiveEdge 2.0 version utilizing the Intel® Atom™ processors, Moblin™ software and Intel® WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350. The result is a technology that revolutionizes broadcast news gathering with a dramatically cost- effective, high performance, easy to implement solution.

COMPUTEX TAIPEI is the largest computer exhibition in Asia and the second largest in the world. Global businesses use the event to launch their new products. Since a large number of businesses have research and deployment centers or production facilities in Taiwan, this exhibition attracts observers, analysts, and journalists from all over the world to discover and report the latest technologies, developments and trends.

Perlmutter is executive vice president and co-general manager of Intel Corporation's Intel Architecture Group (IAG). He is responsible for architecting, developing, and marketing Intel's platform solutions for all computing segments including data centers, desktops, laptops, netbooks/nettops, handhelds, embedded devices, and consumer electronics.

In his keynote, Perlmutter also addressed the development of WiMAX (4G) technology which LiveEdge uses to transmit broadcast quality video. Intel has been a major driver in the support and development of WiMAX and has designed embedded WiMAX solutions for a variety of mobile devices.

LiveEdge combines patent-pending hardware and software with high-bandwidth wireless and/or wired broadband network services to deliver a user-oriented solution for live television news teams as well as anyone interested in extending their ability to capture and distribute live video in a very affordable manner. The 1.5 pound LiveEdge unit attaches to news cameras and enables news crews greater access, efficiency and speed in news coverage in ways previously beyond TV stations’ reach and budget.
