Pittsburgh, PA (Vocus) June 2, 2010
M*Modal, pioneer of advanced Speech Understanding technology and provider of on-demand Conversational Documentation Services (CDS), will illustrate its advanced solutions for physicians in combining speech recognition and natural language understanding at SIIM 2010, June 3 – 6, in Minneapolis, MN. Demonstrations will feature applications to create structured, encoded and shareable clinical documents that will improve efficiency, workflow and patient care.
M*Modal uses proprietary, advanced Speech Understanding technologies to automatically capture the complete narrative of clinical notes through dictation, while structuring and encoding inherent clinical data. M*Modal is transitioning the industry from speech recognition to “Speech Understanding” by transforming a clinician’s dictation into meaningful, searchable and usable clinical information. This technology creates structured documents that capture and store not just text, but discrete data elements based on Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) standards.
Two new, unique solutions that will be unveiled at SIIM 2010 are M*Modal’s CDA Content Server, developed to unlock clinical information in narrative document repositories otherwise inaccessible to clinical data mining tools, and the integration of M*Modal's advanced Speech Understanding technology with the Philips’ iSite PACS System developed by Poiesis Informatics. In addition to the Poiesis demonstration, TeraRecon will be showcasing their integration of M*Modal’s Speech Understanding technology as it applies to their Aquarius iNtuitionTM solution at booth 227.
New Product Preview: CDA Content Server
M*Modal will unveil the first healthcare search and discovery solution that unlocks rich data found in clinical narrative documents. As part of M*Modal’s long-term technology vision, CDA Content Server technology realizes the full potential of electronic medical records by linking clinical narrative to healthcare reporting and decision making. The system creates and indexes semantically interoperable, semi-structured data from flat text documents or consumes the existing CDA documents that M*Modal business partners are already creating today. This new service offering enables applications such as advanced medical record search, compliance reporting, and clinical decision support and outcome analysis.
Philips iSite/M*Modal Integration by Poiesis Informatics
M*Modal and Poiesis Informatics have partnered to present a first-time demonstration that integrates Philips iSite, using their open integration Application Program Interface (API), with M*Modal’s advanced Speech Understanding technology for application within a Radiology department.
The demonstration will illustrate the interoperability between M*Modal technology and iSite, as well as M*Modal’s ability to seamlessly integrate into a highly advanced system solution. From integrating a PACS system with a speech recognition solution, the result is advanced workflow designed to enhance the user experience and improve workplace efficiency and quality of care for patients.
TeraRecon /M*Modal collaborate to showcase distribution of AIM Schema Quantitative Results at TeraRecon Booth 227
TeraRecon’s Aquarius iNtuition, an enterprise-wide server-based advanced visualization and decision support technology, provides clinical applications that are capable of performing user-defined clinical workflow and measurement protocols to achieve quantitative interpretation with online RADLEX lookup for terminology and export of results using the Annotation Image Markup (AIM) schema, providing interoperability benefits and delivering accurate quantitative results to Electronic Health Records (EHR). In addition, the storing of such quantitative information can become an integral part of patient care, research and teaching.
The TeraRecon demo will also feature the integration of Aquarius iNtuition with M*Modal’s CDS Speech Understanding technology that accepts AIM data and translates additional physician dictation in real time into a structured document in HL7 CDA format.
M*Modal Technologies, founded in 2001 and independently owned, now processes more than 1 billion lines of text annually; and is used in 800 hospital and health care systems nationwide via partnerships with industry leaders such as GE Healthcare.
M*Modal is based in Pittsburgh, PA, and offers on-demand conversational documentation services that help healthcare providers capture discrete clinical information from dictation to generate complete and timely electronic medical records. M*Modal's focus is on providing hospitals, healthcare IT vendors, and medical transcription service providers with the industry's most comprehensive yet most adaptable solution for creating highly accurate, structured, encoded, and shareable medical documents to increase patient safety, promote continuity of patient care, and reduce cost.
