Brooksville, KY (PRWEB) June 2, 2010
Plans are being finalized for the 2nd annual Blueberry Festival sponsored by Sabbath Song Farm and the Brackenridge Berry Farm in Bracken County, KY. Last year’s event drew an estimated 500 guests to listen to the music, enjoy the day-long entertainment, shop a number of local vendors and taste the delicious blueberry treats. Admission is only $5 per person for the day’s festivities. Children six and under are free. The fun begins at noon and runs through dark.
“We learned a lot from our experience last year and know that this year’s festival will be even more entertaining,” said co-chair and owner of Sabbath Song Farm, Carolyn Boatman.
In addition to the day-long entertainment, this year a barn-quilt will be dedicated. The Barn quilt was made by Carolyn with the help of the Augusta Art Guild. Donna Sue Groves, the creator of the Quilt Barn concept will be guest of honor for the dedication. From rural Adams County, Donna Sue Groves idea was to decorate her own barn after realizing it was probably the ugliest barn she had ever seen. She dedicated that first plywood-painted quilt square to her mother, a five-generation quilter from West Virginia who lives with Donna. The idea grew and now barn quilts adorn barns in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Iowa, North Carolina and beyond.
Blueberry cobbler, blueberry salsa, blueberry jams, jellies and preserves, blueberry wine and this year Jody Stanley has created blueberry barbeque sauce which will be offered for sale. Food and craft vendors will present their own items for sale and a petting zoo will be available for kids of all ages. Horse-drawn wagon rides around the property will be part of the Blueberry Festival experience. Music by Sorry Charlie II and Haymarket Riot will entertain the guests. Other performers include cloggers, Tai Chi performers, square dancers, and much more. This is a family-friendly event with something for everyone who attends.
