Bella Sorrel Offers A Whole New Experience In Sunless Tanning

People are finally starting to listen and ask questions relating the dangers of u-v tanning

Trying to get that golden glow for the summer? If you tan indoors, it could now cost you significantly more. The new healthcare bill recently passed will go into effect July 1st and will add an additional 10% tax on all ultraviolet tanning services. However, this bill excludes sunless tanning.

The indoor tanning industry has been fighting a battle with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in recent years during which time the FDA has sharpened its warnings about the risks of ultraviolet rays from indoor tanning beds. They are warning that ultraviolet radiation leads to skin cancer, premature aging, eye damage, weakened immune system and even allergic reactions.

There is an alternative. The FDA has approved DHA, the active ingredient used in sunless tanning products, as safe since the 1970's. DHA, (also known as dihydroxyacetone), the active ingredient in sunless tanning sprays, is a color additive derived from sugarcane that darkens the skin by reacting with amino acids on the skin's surface. This natural reaction changes your skin tone from a light pale shade to a darker shade of brown for the perfect sunless tan.

In light of the new 10% “Tan Tax”, owners Kristen Valentin and Dianne Schilling of Bella Sorrel Airbrush Tanning Studio on Butler Avenue, Chalfont, Pennsylvania, are seeing a dramatic increase in their airbrush tanning business. “People are finally starting to listen and ask questions relating the dangers of u-v tanning”, said Dianne. “Sunless tanning is the safe alternative to u-v tanning and in using this method, you have the best of both worlds - a glowing tan without risking your health.”

Bella Sorrel is getting a lot of interest these days about airbrush tanning. Sunless tanning is a rapidly developing industry. Technology, products, education and methods of application have continued to improve year after year. “Pre-application preparation and proper post tan skin care are critical toward a long-lasting spray tan of excellent quality”, said Kristen. “We ensure that all of our clients leave knowing how to properly care for and maintain their tan.” Kristen also notes that Bella Sorrel’s technicians are licensed cosmetologists with more than 40 combined years of experience in the industry. Each technician is also certified by the National Tanning Training Institute prior to working with clients.

In addition to the general public who wants to be tan for bathing suit season, they also see a large number healthcare professionals, such as doctors and estheticians, as well as fitness gurus who want to look healthy without the risks of u-v tanning. Clientel also includes a large number of vacationers, bridal parties and models that have special events for which they need to look their best. To further enhance the experience, Bella Sorrel hosts wine and cheese nights for wedding parties, bachelorette parties or group vacationers.

Bella Sorrel offers a high quality multi-treatment skincare system that has not only achieved carbon neutral status, but also provides customizable skincare solutions along with sunless tanning elixirs, including an anti-aging elixir, a PH balanced normalizing elixir and a shimmer treatment. Their products are the official product of the Emmy’s, Oscars, Britney Spears Circus Tour and LA Sunset Tan. They are also featured in countless publications such as Millionaire Matchmaker, Style Network, E!, Dr. 90210, Deco Drive and Fox News.

Bella Sorrel can be found at 162 East Butler Avenue Route 202 Chalfont, Pennsylvania. In July they will be opening an additional location in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Check back on their website or social networking sites for details or to make an appointment.
