Travel has emerged as the top selling product online. The US market alone is estimated to surpass $162 billion by 2012 in total sales according to eMarketer. As an affiliate marketer would provide Travel Suppliers with an efficient, low-cost distribution channel.

As CEO and Founder Jorge Vasquez put it, “It’s a win-win. The travel suppliers get quality traffic, and we provide a completely new way for them to interact with their customers. We then monetize on the affiliate commissions." These affiliate commissions will sustain the growth and continual development of SocialOrbits.

“In the end, I was just tired of the email chains, to be honest. Every time I wanted to get the guys together, it took 200 emails and an endless circle of phone tag. So when I set out to find something better, and realized there wasn’t anything, well, I found a few people who were as frustrated as I was and we set out to build it. But it was important we have a business model. That we created something that provided its own means to make money so that ultimately we wouldn’t have to find ourselves abusing our user’s personal data.”

SocialOrbits is set to release its beta version, which will include collaborative travel functionality, by the fall of 2010.
