Rick's Roofing Company, based in Tarrant County, announced an expansion of its service area to include neighboring Dallas County, Texas. At the same time, owner Rick Robles announced launch of an online consumer initiative to serve the new, larger service area.
"Roofing can still be a word-of-mouth business," said Robles. "New customers referred to us by previous clients didn't let the county line stop them. We finally decided, 'Why should we?'."
Robles added that he performed a market analysis, and saw that there was a need for a residential roofing specialist in Dallas County. The company's emphasis is on re-roofing and repairs for homes.
"Our greatest concern was whether we could continue our policy of having the customer deal with either me or my son, without a middleman or salesman. Rick, Jr. and I looked at it closely, and decided we could make it happen. He's become our leak, flashing and counter flashing specialist, so it's possible for us to sometimes split up, and then come back together, to provide the customer service we have always insisted on."
"The people of Tarrant County have been very good to us," Robles said. "We had to make certain we could provide the same immediate storm damage response in Tarrant as we began to provide in Dallas County. We determined we have the crew and the know-how. Our customer base continues to grow in Tarrant County, too."
Robles roofing was founded in 1980, and is both a State Farm and Allstate insurance approved contractor. Robles said that after planning the expansion, he turned his attention to providing consumer information to potential customers in both counties. He decided on a re-designed online presence, which has been launched.
"We wanted specific information one click away, and we achieved it. If you are in need of repair, one click takes you to dedicated consumer information. If you want a new metal roof, one button gets you there," said Robles.
He said he studied other roofing websites in the area, and found them crowded with sales talk but light on facts about specific services those companies offered. "Because our business model has always been 'no middleman', our online initiative had to reflect the same approach. We didn't want customers to deal with an online "salesman". The website is packed with information, but it's easy to find exactly what you're looking for without wading through a sales pitch.
