Avantica Technologies announced today the acquisition of Open Mountain, Inc. adding a proven technology leadership company to Avantica’s growing team of experienced software developers and enhancing Avantica's existing product delivery capabilities. Avantica will now offer the full range of product development services clients need to develop innovative software and execute product strategies.

Avantica is a leading provider of nearshore outsourced product development (“OPD”) services based out of San Jose, Costa Rica with offices in Peru, Silicon Valley and New York. Open Mountain, an experienced software management company in San Francisco, uses local experts and development partners such as Avantica to launch new products for clients. The acquisition creates a unique solution for companies looking to create technology products and services while remaining cost competitive.

“Avantica has software engineers with strong expertise in leading technologies who really understand the fundamentals of product development,” said Mario Chaves, CEO of Avantica Technologies. “Open Mountain shares our product focus and offers leadership and management services to complement our engineering teams.”

Avantica has provided the services of talented engineering teams to its clients for over 15 years. Technology and product experts in the US work collaboratively with Avantica's teams to bring products to market leveraging Avantica's nearshore delivery locations. Companies like Shutterfly, LeapFrog and VerticalResponse have all benefited from Avantica’s cost effective teams that know how to build great products.

Open Mountain has extensive experience leading distributed organizations to deliver software and technologies. Avantica recognized Open Mountain’s success managing distributed teams and named Open Mountain a preferred partner in 2009. The two companies have partnered on a number of important initiatives in the health care, e-learning and mobile industries.

“We help customers develop products working hand-in-hand with each customer as part of their leadership team,” said Bob Benedict, CEO of Open Mountain. “We look forward to applying our leadership and management experience on behalf of all of Avantica’s customers.”

The acquisition completed successfully on May 1, 2010. Bob Benedict, co-founder and current CEO of Open Mountain, is now the CTO of Avantica Technologies. Tom Johnson, co-founder of Open Mountain, is the Senior Vice President of Product Development for Avantica.
