"In fact, each DjVu® file has tremendous visual clarity and colour definition." David Frost, Project Leader, LGCSB
Dublin, Ireland (PRWEB) June 4, 2010
Caminova, Inc., a provider of sophisticated technologies to better manage, distribute and access digital content, has been chosen by the Irish Local Government Computer Services Board (LGCSB) for Caminova's DocumentExpress with DjVu® software solution. DjVu®, a compression technology and open file format for Web-optimizing document images, has been in use by The LGCSB for the past 6 years.
Caminova's business partner, Irish Mapping & GIS Solutions Ltd., (IMGS) based in Dublin, Ireland has also been the lead implementation partner in the LGCSB project.
All scanned imagery and digital documents are converted to DjVu® using the Caminova DocumentExpress products. These documents are stored in DjVu®, a revolutionary open file format, in the Local Government's document and case management solution. Using DjVu® ensures the highest possible image quality with the smallest document file size, delivering reduced file storage requirements and improved access without compromising image integrity.
The business drivers for selecting Caminova's document compression software, are the vivid colour and small size of DjVu files. The general public is now provided access to high quality scanned documents, regardless of internet connection. "Our decision to choose DjVu® was simple in that this file format performed better than any other format we evaluated during the lengthy tender process," said David Frost, Project Leader at the LGCSB. "Local Authorities can now post scanned imagery and digital documents such as planning applications, online for the public to see, without burdensome storage, bandwidth constraints or compromised visual quality.''
Document Express with DjVu® combines efficient compression technology and an easy to use interface to produce the highest levels of text legibility and vivid colour, whilst retaining the ability to be fully text searchable.
DjVu® Page Streaming Server, (DPSS), is a robust software for distributing bundled DjVu® files without the need for any additional plug-ins or viewer downloads. With DPSS®, images download quickly while colours, text and details retain visual fidelity.
