400 Black and Gold Honor Cords distributed to enlisted graduating seniors

Celebrating the graduation tradition and commitment to country, the United States Army will honor 400 graduating high school seniors from the Portland area with special Black and Gold Honor Cords. Partnering with local high schools, the Army is providing enlisted graduating seniors with special Army colored cords to be worn during graduation to celebrate their academic achievements and upcoming military service.

Jostens representative Dan Peters collaborated with the Army to implement the tradition for graduating recruits. Honor cords consist of twisted cords with tassels on either end and are awarded to individuals for outstanding academic and non-academic achievements, awards and honors. These special Black and Gold Honor Cords recognize the importance and tradition of graduation, service to country and the Army.
