Pamela L. Cox, Patrick D. Ertel and Gina M. Bicknell Provide the U.S. Perspective for Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Transactions Law and Practice Manual

We were honored to be selected as the sole U.S. contributor to this Oxford University Press publication.

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP, an intellectual property law firm in Chicago, announces that three of the firm’s patent attorneys, Pamela L. Cox, Patrick D. Ertel and Gina M. Bicknell have written the U.S. commentary for Drafting Agreements in the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries, published by Oxford University Press earlier this year.

This 1,200-page reference manual provides sample agreements and precedents for a wide range of commercial transactions in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. The manual also contains detailed commentary and comparative analysis on key European and U.S. legal and regulatory issues inherent in drafting and enforcing such agreements, as well as notes on practical issues faced by practitioners during negotiations.

“We were honored to be selected as the sole U.S. contributor to this Oxford University Press publication,” said Ms. Cox. “Our team spent nearly a year providing chapter commentary, and we believe the breadth and depth of this unique work will be a key resource for counsel worldwide.”

Mark Anderson, General Editor of Drafting Agreements in the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries, commented: “Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP has made an excellent contribution to this publication. Their attorneys’ insights on U.S. law and practice are extremely valuable for an international reference manual of this kind. The publication now includes detailed commentary from life science lawyers in leading common law and civil code jurisdictions, and is a unique source of practical information for anyone drafting or negotiating international agreements in this sector.”

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun, LLP has been dedicated to intellectual property law since 1955, and has a dynamic practice group of attorneys focused on IP Transactions, which Ms. Cox chairs. Ms. Cox concentrates on intellectual property transactions, negotiations and technology transfer counseling. She is a frequent speaker and author and was selected as a 2009 Leading Lawyer by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company. Mr. Ertel is a partner at the firm who specializes in intellectual property transactions and patent prosecution. He has more than 35 years’ experience and was recently named one of the world’s leading intellectual property strategists by Intellectual Asset Management magazine.
