Austin, Texas (Vocus) June 4, 2010
U.S. Foodservice-Austin is hosting the Special American Business Internship Training (SABIT) restaurant association development program on June 3. The program is administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce and seeks to build partnerships and provide technical assistance by training Eurasian business leaders in U.S. business practices.
The training sessions provide technical assistance and act as an opportunity for U.S. businesses to transfer industry knowledge to Eurasian business professionals, which promotes economic and civil society development in their home countries. Included in the U.S. Foodservice-Austin visit will be a presentation on food safety and quality assurance (FSQA), followed by a tour of the division’s warehouse and shipping and receiving operations.
“The SABIT program is a wonderful opportunity for U.S. Foodservice to share its expert knowledge in the restaurant and hospitality field,” said John Fowler, division president at U.S. Foodservice-Austin. “Not only will the participants gain working technical knowledge about U.S. Foodservice operations, they will also receive valuable food safety knowledge that they will be able to implement in their home countries.”
The SABIT restaurant association development program is designed to train 19 professionals from the food service industry in Eurasia. Participants come from a variety of countries in Europe and Asia including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Russia and Ukraine.
