Traditionally, search engines were never designed to interact with their users. You put a key phrase in the query box and the highest ranking results popped out. In the era of the Web 2.0, Bgin.com is taking the search engine farther than it’s gone before with a host of interactive features designed to transform Bgin.com from an ordinary search engine into an extraordinary online information sharing community.

“Bgin is a Meta search engine that allows users to get the best results from Google, Yahoo! and Bing with one click,” says Bgin.com spokesman Todd Dechter.

Once visitors to Bgin.com enter their key phrase into the query box, the list of sites not only includes a URL and a quick summary but also the opportunity to ‘Quick View’, sneaking a peek at the site’s home page without having to waste time clicking back and forth between pages. They’ll also have the chance to rank and comment on the site directly from the search page, giving future surfers the thumbs-up if a site’s all they expected and more and a thumbs-down if it’s so abysmal they’ll never find what they’re looking for.

Comments are completely anonymous, meaning there’s no reason for searchers to lie, or even pull their punches, when it comes to giving the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about a particular site. This customer commentary is just another step toward making tomorrow’s search engine smarter, faster and more accurate than ever before.

Bgin.com is also making search results more personal, allowing users to customize their search results from their MyPage and share their results on Facebook, Twitter, Digg and other social media directly from their search page.

“Because the [number of] Internet users is growing, and [they are] constantly increasing their web knowledge, we feel that [effective] organization of web results is important to give online users quick and accurate information,” says Dechter. “We feel you’ll genuinely enjoy your search experience with Bgin.”
