Technology company moves to AVG Anti-Virus to wipe out viruses and Trojans that were threatening its network

I knew we had a winner in AVG Anti-Virus.

When Michael Privette joined Baja Broadband as the Systems Engineer in Fort Mill, SC, he immediately knew that some IT changes were in order.

“Me and Symantec are like me and Fords—we just don’t get along,” Privette stated. “When I first came on board here, the company was running Symantec on their nearly 40 workstations in Fort Mill as well as on the approximately 175 workstations at our offices out west. Not only have I had bad experiences with Symantec in the past, but soon after starting at Baja users were coming to me with viruses and Trojans that Symantec had not caught.”

Privette made his first recommendation as the unofficial Enterprise IT Administrator at Baja Broadband by suggesting that the company switch to a new anti-virus provider—and fast.

“We were experiencing difficulties on numerous workstations that Symantec just wasn’t solving, so I need to find a new solution fast! Not to mention the fact that our licenses were running out,” Privette remembered. “That’s when I decided to try out the AVG Free Edition.”

AVG Free Edition Quarantines and Saves Network That Others Could Not

“We were paying so much for our Symantec licenses, I couldn’t believe that AVG Free Edition caught the problems that Symantec didn’t,” Privette said. “Immediately when I loaded the software it identified the virus that had been causing us trouble, and even found three more!”

Privette was sold at that instant, and immediately searched online for a vendor to purchase multiple licenses from.

“I needed a quote quickly so that I could make up a purchase order, we wanted to get AVG Anti-Virus up and running as soon as possible in order to halt any more viruses attacking our network.”

That’s when Privette came across Walling Data, and in no time had received a quote from the vendor so he could get rolling on the installation process.

“I searched online for AVG vendors and Walling Data was close to my heart because it was located in North Carolina,” Privette said. “I was also impressed with their support features.”

Not only is Walling Data the longest-standing and highest-volume distributor of AVG Technologies solutions in North America, it is the only distributor to offer all its customers free, unlimited, U.S.-based pre- and post-sales support.

Adding Another Satisfied Walling Data Customer to the List

“What do I like most about AVG Anti-Virus? Well, it just seems to work,” Privette responded. After dealing with the hassles of Symantec, AVG Anti-Virus was a welcome change for Baja Broadband. “It was even easy to install when we purchased through Walling Data.”

Although Privette has yet to use the free and unlimited support services offered by Walling Data, he is glad to know that the support cushion is there should he need it.

“Honestly, everything happened so fast when we purchased our licenses, and I installed them myself so I had no need for support,” Privette said. “But maybe once I slow down a bit I will take the time to give them a call.”

Baja Broadband is just another example of what can happen when a company takes the time to evaluate their IT security solutions. When spyware and other malicious threats began to overtake their system they wasted no time in taking action. Luckily, they turned to AVG Anti-Virus first.

“Even AVG Free Edition was able to contain and clean up the viruses that came in where Symantec didn’t,” Privette said. “When I saw that, I knew we had a winner in AVG Anti-Virus.”
