I’m pleased to say that this is the first of many apps to be created through iStorytime for the Danny the Dragon series.

Imagination Publishing Group, publisher of the ground-breaking Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy DVD (vivid audio-visual presentation of the children’s picture book of the same name, by award-winning author Tina Turbin) with sign-language interpretation for the deaf, recently announced it’s partnership with the premier iPhone app developer, iStorytime.

While production is taking place, turning Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy into a children’s picture book app by August 2010, an additional aspect drawing attention to this project will be the inclusion of sign-language interpretation for the deaf, to this same title, in a soon to follow release. This unique feature will be the first of its kind, paving the way for many more cutting-edge products to assist this underserved population.

Carol Downing, the Associate Director of the Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf and a nationally-certified sign language interpreter agrees that the inclusion of sign language interpretation is quite fitting considering that the deaf population tend to be very tech-savvy. She goes on to say,

“In an outstanding show of compassion, Tina Turbin has reproduced her entire book on DVD along with the addition of a sign language interpreter for deaf children. As an educator of the deaf, I appreciate her attention to this often overlooked and underserved population. The innovation of adding a sign language interpreter to her DVD was not only brilliant and appreciated, but it stands as strong proof that she truly creates from her heart.”

When asked about future product development, Imagination Publishing Group President Alan Wayne replied: “I’m pleased to say that this is the first of many apps to be created through iStorytime for the Danny the Dragon series. We are very pleased with the collaboration on this incredible children’s title.”
