Madison, WI (PRWEB) June 6, 2010
MADISON, WI – (June 4, 2010) Flad Architects has been selected by UW Health to design a new 6,300-square-foot simulation center in support of the new UW Health Clinical Simulation Program.
Healthcare simulation is a growing field and more credentialing organizations are requiring simulation training as part of the curriculum. With a new simulation center, UW Health will take advantage of the latest simulation techniques and technologies to promote the sharing of clinical knowledge and skills.
One of the most challenging aspects of health professionals training is providing robust and realistic learning opportunities to prepare for actual care situations. The center will serve residents, medical students, nurses, physicians, emergency and critical care personnel, and others both internal and external to UW Health and will support the goal to provide unsurpassed patient care quality and safety. Skills training includes surgical, anesthesia, emergency medicine/trauma (adult and pediatrics), microsurgery, critical care, laparoscopic, and pediatrics.
The simulation center will be designed and constructed to meet all criteria in order to be successfully certified as an American College of Surgeons Level 1 Comprehensive Education Institute.
Scheduled for completion in mid-2011, the center will be constructed within the Clinical Sciences Center which houses the UW Hospital and Clinics.
