Launched by Argos to engage customers before, during and after the exciting summer of football, the campaign offers members of the public the opportunity of winning everything they need to make the most of the 2010 World Cup, including Bluray Player, XBox 360 and Freeview HD Receiver.
The competition has been open for three weeks, and has already generated over 60,000 charity votes from over 84,000 entrants to date, meaning that more than 70% of entrants have chosen to nominate a charity or community cause. With a number of high profile charities naturally early front runners for the competition prize, Argos has enlisted the help of Charities Trust as it aims to increase its support for smaller charitable organisations in the UK. The Trust will be contacting 20,000 NPO's to ensure that they are aware of the campaign and their applicability for entry.
All participating charities are encouraged not only to nominate their cause, but also to campaign their nomination - http://www.worldtruck.co.uk offers a media kit, including social media tools, website banners, posters and other promotional material, to help NPO's plan their own campaigns.
Ceri Wootton, community affairs and workplace manager for Argos parent company Home Retail Group, comments: "Because of the size of our organisation and commitments to our national charity partner, we are continually seeking enterprising ways to engage with smaller charities and community projects. The current Argos promotional campaign provided us with the ideal platform to do so and we are grateful for the support of Charities Trust in getting the message out there.
"Like any successful organisation, the modern day NPO will be connecting to a significant proportion of stakeholders online, so our downloadable toolkit on http://www.worldtruck.co.uk is an easy way for institutions big or small to campaign amongst their supporters win the most votes and gain £5,000 of products including a sofa, LCD TV and garden furniture. We are hoping to see the best creative viral marketing campaign win the prize."
