Arlington, TX (Vocus) June 8, 2010 –
Instead of taking your mind on summer vacation, be smart and take $10 of your Mensa testing. For the entire month of June, American Mensa is having a “30 for 30” deal; that’s a 30 day opportunity to test for $30 on the Mensa Admissions Test. Interested individuals can seize this opportunity by contacting a Mensa proctor to schedule a test session in their area.
The two hour test includes two exams featuring questions that involve logic and deductive reasoning. Those who score at or above the 98th percentile on either of the test will qualify and be invited to join. There is also a battery of culture fair, non-language test available for those whose speak languages other than English that must be scheduled separately. Interested persons, age 14 and older, can take the supervised test. A parent or guardian must accompany those under 18 or give them written permission to take the exam. Test takers should arrive 30 minutes early for registration and bring a photo ID. For more information about testing in your local area, log on to http://www.us.mensa.org/testingcalendar.
“American Mensa is welcoming summer test takers by offering them $10 off our Admission Test. During this time of year, people are looking for new summer activities and Mensa is an organization that will keep them active socially and mentally,” said Pam Donahoo, CAE and Executive Director of American Mensa. “Our members’ ages range from 2-107 years old, so there is something for everyone in our organization."
Those who are under the age of 14 and interested in membership can submit their prior test scores. Mensa accepts more than 200 tests for membership. Examples of accepted tests include the Wechsler Intelligence Scale, Otis Lennon School Abilities Test (OLSAT), Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) and Stanford Binet. A condensed version of that list can be found by visiting http://www.us.mensa.org/scores and clicking on "qualifying scores".
