Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester (HPCW) has voted William F. Flooks, Jr.; Kathleen Lonergan; and Michael J. Amoruso, Esq. as the newest members of its 2010 – 2011 Board of Directors.

Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester (HPCW) has voted William F. Flooks, Jr.; Kathleen Lonergan; and Michael J. Amoruso, Esq. as the newest members of its 2010 – 2011 Board of Directors.

A resident of White Plains, Flooks is president and CEO of Beecher Funeral Home. He is president of the Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce and Director of Clinical Embalming at American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. Flooks, who is active in the Pleasantville Lions Club, holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from LaSalle College and a Mortuary Science degree in Funeral Service from American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service.

A resident of City Island, New York, Lonergan serves as Clinical Operations Manager at The Obsorn in Rye. She is a Director on the Board of New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aged and a member of the Rye Senior Advocacy Committee. She is a former Board member of the New York State Association of Health Care Providers. Lonergan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Tufts University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cornell University, a Masters of Arts in Nursing from New York University and a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia University.

Michael J. Amoruso, Esq., of Rye Brook, is Managing Partner of Amoruso & Amoruso, LLP, where he focuses on elderlaw, asset preservation, estate planning, estate administration and guardianship. He serves as Chair of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) Elder Law Section and is a member of the Executive Committee and former Chair of the Legislation Committee, the Estate & Tax Planning Committee and the Leadership Task Force.

Amoruso received the 2010 NYSBA Elder Law Award as a principal drafter of NYSBA’s significant amendments to the 2009 Power of Attorney statute and form. He also served as President of the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and was recently appointed Co-Chair of NAELA’s Chapter Presidents Council. A member of the NAELA Public Policy Board, Amoruso is the 2010 recipient of the Outstanding Chapter Member Award of NAELA. Locally, Mr. Amoruso is member of the Westchester County Bar Association Board of Directors (WCBA), Past Chair of WCBA’s Elder Law Committee and President of the Columbian Lawyers Association of Westchester.
