Family, fun, food – all at the fair! Goodbye gloomy weather and hello Southern California sunshine. The days of sun and fun in June marks the time of the year for San Diegans to take the family out to the Del Mar Fairgrounds for the annual San Diego County Fair, one of city’s biggest and most traditional community events. This year’s San Diego County Fair celebrates food with its theme, “Taste the Fun”, running from Friday, June 11th to Monday, July 5th. To provide its customers with a better interactive experience and to generate more publicity, the fair has decided to run a mobile campaign as part of its marketing efforts to get customers excited for impending festivities at the fair.
In order to excite and draw in crowds to taste and savor the fun, SD Fair enlisted the help of Nine Mobile to launch a mobile campaign that allows customers to interact with the fair events right from their mobile phone. Patrons can sign up for fun mobile alerts by texting different keywords to receive immediate vendor deals, fun information, and jokes that will build customer involvement and help guide their fair experience.
Visitors can text “FAIR” to 85800 to receive mobile alerts leading up to the fair’s opening day and mobile updates throughout the duration of the fair.
Nine Mobile is an official sponsor of the San Diego County Fair, and this year marks the second year that Nine Mobile will be running the mobile marketing campaign. With new ideas and a fresh prospective, Nine Mobile has expanded the fair’s mobile campaign to include coupons and real-time vendor deals with the Blue Ribbon Special text program.
When inside the fairgrounds, visitors can text “BLUE” to 85800 to receive texts throughout the day that contains deals inside the fairgrounds, which provides a cool way to move visitors around the fairgrounds and help guide their experience, not to mention generate exposure and boost sales for vendors as well.
The deals are issued daily, with up to 100 different offers, giving every vendor a chance to publicize and offer visitors a real value with customized mobile deals.
The mobile campaign is expected to drive more visitors to the fair and raise publicity and awareness for the fair during its four-week run. The increase in foot traffic throughout the fairgrounds will drive customers to the vendors to try the food and fare (ha!). Overall, the mobile campaign provides a fun and interactive experience for visitors to fully embrace all that the fair has to offer, and for vendors to take advantage of the exposure and publicity that will drive more customers to try their products. It’s a fantastic function for all.
