Actor Jon Reep will emcee and bring even more humor to the World's Ugliest Dog ® Contest at the 22nd annual event held in Petaluma, California during the Sonoma-Marin Fair on Friday, June 25. The contest is renowned worldwide and has launched many homely but beloved dogs into star status. Reep will channel his inner comic and love of dogs to entertain the audience.

"I'm hosting the World's Ugliest Dog ® Contest because Mario Lopez was too pretty," said Actor Jon Reep.

In a competition where personality is important as having the right "ugly" credentials, World’s Ugliest Dog ® Contest organizers have invited Hollywood personality, actor and comedian Jon Reep, to emcee the 22nd annual contest set for Friday, June 25, 2010 in Petaluma, California.

"I'm hosting the World's Ugliest Dog ® Contest because Mario Lopez was too pretty," said Reep.

“We’re thrilled to have him,” said contest organizer Vicki DeArmon. “Jon brings a lot of personality to the stage and a love of dogs. We’re looking forward to his stage antics.”

As an actor he’s played the crazy farmer “Raymus” in the movie Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, and the dim-witted cop “Gerald Bob” from the ABC Sitcom Rodney. But most people probably know him as Dodge Truck's popular "Hemi guy"; who leans out of a beat-up car and utters the now famous line: "That thing gotta Hemi?”

Reep also won Season 5 of Last Comic Standing on NBC. He’s made appearances on Comedy Central's Premium Blend, Comedy Central Presents: Jon Reep, TBS's Pit Stop Comedy, NBC's Late Friday, CMT's Comedy Club & Comedy Stage, and CMT’s Bandits vs Smokies. His just released DVD, Metro Jethro, is out now. Fans can find out what a Metro Jethro is at http://www.JonReep.com.

DeArmon said, “Occasionally, we’ve had folks who think the World’s Ugliest Dog ® Contest makes fun of ugly dogs and that the dogs’ feelings are hurt by being called ugly. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, these are some of the best-loved dogs in the world and many of them are ambassadors for dog-related causes. Jon’s a great reminder that the World’s Ugliest Dog ® Contest is for people who love dogs but also have a sense of humor. That’s why the contest has lasted so long and grown so popular. People need a reason to laugh. With Jon, they’ll have even more.”

The World’s Ugliest Dog ™ Contest is scheduled for Friday, June 25, 2010 at 6 p.m. during the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California. Entry forms can be downloaded at http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org or requested by calling 707-283-3247 (FAIR). (Reep’s video can be viewed there as well.) The 2010 World Champion will take home a minimum of $1,000 in prize money and prizes, a trophy, and a $1,000 modeling contract with contest sponsor House Of Dog. The Sonoma-Marin Fair also issues a YouTube video of the contest highlights immediately following the contest. The winner of this internationally known competition is catapulted into the international limelight. Past winners have had their photos in newspapers across America and overseas and are featured guests on talk shows.
