This year’s Global Art Investment Conference at London Business School will feature leading practitioners, stakeholders and academics to discuss current trends affecting the international art market.

Entitled Defining the Art Market for Investment, the one-day conference at London Business School (http://www.london.edu) on 3 June will comprise speaker presentations, case studies, and panel sessions. The event aims to bring a diverse perspective on the opportunities and risks in the global art market and growing importance of art in an alternative investment strategy.

The fourth instalment of the conference comes against a backdrop of increasing investment in art globally and a new generation of collectors for whom investment in art has become an important component of their strategic portfolio diversification.

Discussions will include growth opportunities for the art market in 2010, the state of art investment funds and their capital raising, barriers for institutional investors, due-diligence in art investment, and art banking and wealth management. Art market-focused breakout sessions will include discussions on successful art business models, emerging art markets, and art fairs and their impact on the global art market.

In past years, participants have spanned the industry and include art market professionals, art investment funds, private wealth managers, institutional investors, lawyers, consultants and wealth management professionals.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Angus Murray, Managing Principal and Founder of Castlestone Management. Angus founded Castlestone, a privately-owned, independent fund manager. The company specialises in providing alternative assets for global clients, offering a broad range of funds structured around assets including gold bullion, precious metals, commodity and stock indexes, currencies, hedge funds, property and art.

Key participating organisations include: Christie's, Chubb Insurance Fine Art, Green Cardamom Gallery, Emotional Assets, Artist Pension Trust, Opera Gallery Fund, The Fine Art Fund, TowersWatson, Skate Art Market Research, Outset, Mishcon de Reya, Art Management Group, Circle Partners, ARIS Corp, Art Capital, ArtTactic, and Art Dubai.
