SearchCatalyst, a leading marketing agency specialising in the provision of search engine optimisation (SEO)* and pay per click (PPC)** services for small to medium sized firms, has today announced the launch of a free ongoing search marketing training programme, commencing August 2010.

According to the ONS November 2009 report on e-commerce and ICT activity, internet sales generated £222.9bn worth of business in the UK in 2008, a staggering increase of almost 37% on 2007 levels which totalled £163.2bn.

“SMEs need to find the most cost-effective methods to grow their business”, says Andreas Pouros, Managing Director at SearchCatalyst. “When it comes to the online opportunity, SEO and PPC are typically the best ways to scale a business’ client base at the cheapest cost per new customer. This is largely because people that use search engines are in ‘search mode’ so are actively looking for something that you offer. So if you’re present in relevant search results then you are in front of self-qualified potential customers.”

Some SME’s are either unfamiliar with or don’t have the internal resources to dedicate to search engine marketing. Consequently, they are struggling to make decisions about how to engage with the medium, often missing out on the many benefits it can bring. Others use the internet to find out more about SEO and PPC –forums and blogs which may misinform or hold outdated information.

“The aim of SearchCatalyst’s free training programme is to help address this imbalance. SearchCatalyst’s team, created by Greenlight, one of Europe’s largest and well reputed search marketing agencies, consists of over 20 SEO and PPC professionals with a combined experience of 150 years working at the sharp end of the sector.”

SearchCatalyst engages SMEs ensuring they have real exchanges with a real agency and real experts. SearchCatalyst efforts are channelled into transferring knowledge, building relationships and producing results.

“At SearchCatalyst we aim to broaden the understanding of search engine marketing among smaller and medium sized businesses”, say Pouros. “In particular, we want them to be empowered, encouraged and confident to apply these tactics to improve their sites, search rankings and visibility, and exploit the online opportunity to its fullest.”

SearchCatalyst training sessions will consist of an introduction to the search engine medium, how it works, the basics of SEO and PPC management, how to boost rankings with SEO link building, eventually building up to more advanced techniques.
