Projected Job Growth Places High-Demand on Students Enrolled in Bachelor’s Accounting Degree Programs

Rasmussen College is a premier provider of educational experiences dedicated to the growth and development of its students, employees, and the communities it serves.

The economic downtown has opened the door for growth in the accounting industry and graduates with degrees in this field hold a clear advantage in the job market.

Despite a slow job market, with national unemployment rates reaching their highest point this year at 9.9 percent, the demand for professional accountants continues to increase. To meet this growing need, Rasmussen College has placed renewed emphasis behind its accounting program, offering students Bachelor’s and Associate’s degrees in accounting online and at its campuses throughout the Midwest and Florida.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are now more than five job seekers for every available job opening, making securing a first-time job even more difficult for 2010 college grads. Nevertheless, specialized fields, such as accounting, continue to experience growth. The Rasmussen College accounting program prepares students for success in nearly any capacity related to the profession.

“The economic downtown has opened the door for growth in the accounting industry and graduates with degrees in this field hold a clear advantage in the job market. As regulators are tightening their scrutiny on company finances across the board, there is an urgency for the most up-to-date accounting candidates,” Rasmussen College National Director of Career Development Tamryn Hennessy said. “Accounting degrees that focus on specializations such as banking, corporate regulations, and financial investigations are designed to address the needs of the business community head-on. We continue to forecast hearty growth and room for advancement in the accounting field.”

Employment in accounting fields is expected to grow by 22 percent between 2008 and 2018, which is higher than average compared to all occupations. These numbers, paired with statistics from CareerBuilder and Monster.com, which predict less than half of employers plan to hire recent grads, only makes accounting more attractive to career-minded degree seekers.

Led by instructors with real-world experience, the Rasmussen College Bachelor’s in Accounting Degree program equips students with the skills necessary to achieve professional success and includes the following accounting courses:

Corporate Fraud Examination teaches internal audit principles, practices, and control evaluations to help ensure accountability, responsibility, and ethical operations within an organization.

In Organizational Behavior Analysis students will conduct an in-depth analysis of the behavior of a contemporary organization.

Advanced Federal Tax Theory applies the applicable tax laws, regulations, and other citable authority to real-world problems relating to corporate income tax.

To further prepare students for their careers, the Rasmussen College career placement services staff provides resume, cover letter, and interviewing assistance. For additional information about Rasmussen College, visit http://www.Rasmussen.edu.
