In light of Cisco’s horrible lead times on their ASA products, we figured the timing couldn’t be better to introduce Juniper’s SRX product to the marketplace. The point is, there has never been a better time to give Juniper a try.

Great Lakes Computer, a 24 year old billion dollar Elite Juniper Networks Reseller, published its results from a side by side comparison between the Juniper SRX240 and the Cisco ASA5520.

“Juniper University”, hosted by Great Lakes Computer, is a series of side by side comparisons of Juniper products to their Cisco counterparts. Officially launched on May 19th, Great Lakes Computer’s first educational series comparing the Juniper SRX240 against the Cisco ASA 5520 came at a time when Cisco ASA customers have been waiting weeks, and in some cases months, for Cisco to deliver their ASAs.

Juniper University - SRX versus ASA Results
The findings are nothing less than remarkable. In a side by side comparison between the Juniper SRX and the Cisco ASA, it was no contest. Juniper was hands down the clear winner. The SRX offers lower hardware costs for higher port densities, bandwidth and scalability. In addition to the WAN interface and routing capabilities, the SRX eliminated the need for a separate router. This in effect means Cisco customers can replace their ASAs with a more robust appliance from Juniper Networks for a much lower price, and save 75% on annual support costs. Comparative technical specifications between the two models are available in the published results.

The savings offered by Juniper Networks are just the beginning. The “Switch to Juniper” Cisco trade in program, offered exclusively through Great Lakes Computer, can also get you up to a $2,500 trade in credit on your Cisco ASA. People interested in learning more about Juniper should visit Great Lakes’ Juniper Lab, which offers access to free, hands-on Juniper product demos.

When asked why all the effort into Juniper University, the Juniper brand manager stated, “Juniper is hands down the best value for your money. In light of Cisco’s horrible lead times on their ASA products, we figured the timing couldn’t be better to introduce Juniper’s SRX product to the marketplace. So while Cisco ASA customers grow tired of waiting for their orders, our customers are enjoying the security of Juniper’s SRX products. The point is, there has never been a better time to give Juniper a try.”
