New Programming Interface Transforms Purchasing Process Into Immersive Experience of Online Social Games

Our drive is to reduce the barriers between the end consumer and the game: This In-Game Activation solution achieves this like no other trial experience has in the past.

Ushering in a new era of “frictionless” e-commerce, Plimus, Inc., the leader in complete, configured and connected hosted e-business solutions for selling online, today announced it is working with Yummy Interactive, a leading provider of technology solutions for secure digital delivery of PC video games via the Internet, on a new, e-commerce platform for casual game publishers that enables not only a single-click purchase, but maintains the game experience throughout the transaction.

Until now, social gaming and other online purchasing services were forced to deploy e-commerce platforms that required users to leave the game environment in order to complete a transaction such as buying additional credits, or purchasing the game after an initial free trial. Using the Plimus e-commerce application and its own GameShield™ licensing protection solution, Yummy Interactive has developed an e-commerce interface that keeps the player within the game environment during the transaction, which not only enriches the user experience but also increases conversion rates and revenue.

“The rise of social online gaming has resulted in the need for new, less intrusive ways to conduct transactions online,” said Vice President of Strategic Solutions at Plimus, Simon Jones, “The solution developed by Yummy Interactive is a strong step forward in what we’re calling ‘e-Commerce 3.0,’ which is defined by the ability to natively embed the transaction into the user experience for frictionless purchases.”

The new programming interface provides the ability for developers of online social gaming sites to protect their intellectual property, provide one-step, customizable purchase and activation screens, communicate new offerings to the player at start up and shut down, and offer the player the opportunity to store payment preferences.

“As a provider of technologies behind the rise in digital distribution, Yummy Interactive works hard to deliver the functionality our publisher customers clamor for,” said Christopher Hennebery, VP Software Distribution of Yummy Interactive. “GameShield’s In-Game Activation that we’ve developed with Plimus provides game publishers a way to turn the trial-to-purchase process into a hassle-free, immersive experience. GameShield’s In-Game Activation provides publishers a new tool to use for successful sales conversions and increased revenue. Our drive is to reduce the barriers between the end consumer and the game: In-Game Activation achieves this like no other trial experience has in the past.”

Plimus and Yummy Interactive will be demonstrating the In-Game Activation interface at the E3 Game Connection, June 15-17 in Los Angeles. More information may be found at or
