"We are already the leading online person-to-person renting and sharing website in America. But there are many communities who haven’t heard of us yet," said President & CEO, Punsri Abeywickrema.

Rentalic, Inc., the fastest growing person-to-person renting and sharing community on the web, intends to end debate over which rental site is the premier one in the United States, thanks to a scavenger hunt and other high profile initiatives this summer. The scavenger hunt is aimed at getting teams renting items online with the goal of winning one of two prizes for a good cause of their choice, each of which will be a minimum of $1,000.
“We are already the leading online person-to-person renting and sharing website in America. But there are many communities who haven’t heard of us yet. We thought holding a scavenger hunt with a series of $1,000 prizes, would be a way to help those communities out and spread our positive message,” said President & CEO Punsri Abeywickrema.
The scavenger hunt is the latest in a series of major steps Rentalic has taken since it launched publicly Jan. 4, 2010, to secure its spot as the leading rental marketplace on the web. Just this year the company has received a series of awards already, and added three high profile silicon valley executives to its advisory board.
Bill Glazier, a venture capitalist and partner with venture capital firm Redwood Ventures, is the chief author of the ground breaking Marketing Measurement Study "Measures and Metrics: The Marketing Performance Measurement Audit," as well as serving as a board member, founder, advisor or interim executive to more than a dozen companies.
Lloyd Taylor, president of Netelder Associates, a boutique consulting firm focused on successfully scaling Internet companies. Taylor has developed, implemented and operated an infinitely scalable physical infrastructure for Google's server farms, held the VP of operations position at LinkedIn, built out a worldwide performance measurement infrastructure for Keynote Systems, and developed one of the first managed hosting architectures for Digex.
The pair join Mark Cameron White, and his law firm White & Lee LLP, which is serving as legal counsel for Rentalic. White & Lee LLP, is a premier boutique corporate law firm, providing critical legal service and business guidance to early and mid-stage high-technology and other emerging growth companies. White has represented several well known companies, such as HotMail, Tesla Motors, Classmates Online, and 3ware, as well as multiple venture capital funds.
Rentalic has been highlighted in the press more than a dozen times - including features in BostonGlobe, CNET, Mashable, Silicon Valley Business Journal, Wired, and many others - and won first place in PayPal X Developer Challenge, with the new patent pending design of its cutting-edge rental transaction process. The company also won the 2009 Maker Faire Editor's Choice Award, and is currently a finalist for two additional prizes.
The company was named one of the Red Herring 100 North America Finalists. Rentalic also made it into the semi-final round of the Clean-Tech Open competition. The Cleantech Open is a non-profit organization providing clean tech innovators with the tools, training and connections they need to become tomorrow's viable clean tech businesses.
Rentalic is trying to make the rental market more accessible, widespread, and efficient - similar to what sites like eBay and Amazon did with the buyer/seller market. It is pioneering social commerce and helping build micro-economies in communities. People can use it to make and save money, and help save the environment by increasing sharing and re-use. What differentiates it from other rental websites is the "Rentalic-Mobile Borrower Verification and Payment Processing Platform," making the rental system safe, secure, and convenient.
