King of the Cage will up the ante on delivering the best in intense mixed martial arts action when it roars back to the Lac du Flambeau Amphitheater at the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin on Saturday, July 17th. Tickets are $75, $45 and $35.
The Main Event
Local standout and rising star Smile’n Sam Alvey will put his 10-1 record on the line in his toughest fight to date. Across from him in the cage in the main event will be former UFC, Bodog Fight and EliteXC fighter Nick “The Goat” Thompson, a veteran of 50 professional bouts. Wisconsin fan favorite and up and coming star Alvey is a gritty fighter known for being able to finish a fight from any position. A win against Thompson will surely propel him to the national stage.
The national pay-per-view broadcast event will begin with the finals of the 155-pound tournament that kicked off the casino’s April event. Battling in this final will be former King of the Cage champion and Pride veteran Clay French against Wisconsin’s top-ranked James Warfield. Both fighters are coming off impressive wins in the tournament and this promises to be a battle at a quick pace with the fight being equally as explosive on the feet as on the ground.
Also appearing will be another top ranked Wisconsin fan favorite, Will “The Franchise” Dicke.
Making a guest appearance at the event will be former UFC heavyweight champion of the world, Tim Sylvia. “The Maine-iac” will be available for free autographs and photos after the show. Sylvia is coming off his victory over five-time World’s Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski at Moosin: God of Martial Arts event. Also, as very special guests Megan Hauserman (who appeared on the television shows “I Love Money,” “Rock of Love: Charm School and “Megan Wants a Millionaire), plus Playboy Playmate Stephanie Larimore, and models Maryann Murray (Playboy) and Kristina Colonna (Manswers) will be on hand for photos and autographs after the show too. Gate opens at 5:30PM and the fight begins at 7PM.
“The outdoor show at Lake of the Torches has always been great for Wisconsin fans. We wanted to give them something even better and I think we hit the mark,” renowned promoter and matchmaker Monte Cox said.
Lake of the Torches’ Director of Marketing Michael J. Broderick added: “This will be an all out, no holds barred event with a former King of the Cage champion fighting in the finals of his weight class and Sam Alvey trying to keep his record intact. Plus, this is a must see for all fans who want a chance to meet former UFC champion Tim Sylvia and a few hotties to boot. I know everyone who gets a picture with them will have all of their Facebook friends insanely jealous. I can’t wait for the action to begin!”
